Tata Tiago EV: Tata Motors launches Tiago in electric avatar, know price, range and features

Tata Motors has launched its popular hatchback car Tata Tiago in an electric avatar. The Tata Tiago EV (Tata Tiago EV) (Electric Vehicle) was officially launched in the country on Wednesday at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The company has announced that this is the introductory price of the car and is valid only for the first 10,000 bookings. That is, the price of Tata Tiago EV may increase in the future. This is the fourth EV model from Tata Motors after the Nexon EV, Nexon EV Max and Tigor EV. But unlike these three models, the Tiago EV is believed to be a model that will take battery-powered mobility technology to the masses.

The Tiago EV is Rs 3.1 lakh more expensive than the internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Tiago, and these prices are only applicable for the first 10,000 customers, of which 2,000 are reserved for existing Nexon EV and Tigor EV customers.

Tata's first electric hatchback sits below the Tigor EV in the brand's line-up and will be available in four trims – XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux. Bookings for the Tata Tiago EV hatchback will open from October 10, with deliveries beginning in January.

Tata Motors has said that the bookings for the Tiago EV will start from October 10 and this price is valid only for the first 10,000 bookings. The deliveries of the Tiago EV will start from January next year. Also, out of the first 10,000 bookings, 2,000 are reserved for existing customers of Tata EV passenger vehicles.

Tata Motors has a major share in the growing business of electric cars in the country. Nexon EV is the best selling model across all segments. But the price at which the Tiago EV has been launched can challenge the Nexon EV.

Battery Size

The Tiago EV is being offered with two battery options - a 19.2 kWh unit and a more powerful 24 kWh unit. Each of these battery packs gives a different range. By offering this car with two battery pack options, Tata Motors wants to woo a diverse base of buyers with daily driving needs.

Tata Tiago EV supports fast-charging option. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 57 minutes. This, of course, is the ideal and fastest charging time.

Speed and performance

The Tiago EV is based on the company's Ziptron high-voltage architecture that uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. This car can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds. It has two drive modes.
